George Parr

An active retiree, George Parr spent his days caring for his two houses and 15 acres of land. George is happily married, with grown children and grandchildren. During his spare time, George enjoyed competitively shooting skeet and firearms.

A sudden intestinal infection landed George in the hospital. After surgery, George transferred to Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital of Amarillo for recovery. He had a great stay, then discharged to a skilled nursing facility for further recovery before returning home.

Unfortunately, after returning home, George experience complications from bleeding. After a stay at BSA Hospital, George’s physician recommended additional rehabilitation. So George returned to Vibra for a second time.

“The staff and physicians told me what to do to get better,” George said, noting their influence on his recovery. George’s physician changed his medications to help him regain some weight, which has been helpful for him. “The therapists and nurses were all very good,” he added.

George’s wife served as his motivation to recover. “I want to get my house in order for my wife. She takes very good care of me,” he said with a smile.

“My story is a success because I get to go home,” George said. He is looking forward to returning home but is thankful for and enjoyed his stay at Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital of Amarillo.
